Perspective on a $1 million GoFundMe

Put the ex-President’s GoFundMe in perspective for the Comperatore family and it appears nothing more than a scam.

Corey Comperatire was killed by a bullet intended for the ex-President who supposedly has a networth of $5.3 billion according to Forbes Magazine. Call it $5 billion for the sake of simple math.

$1 million is one 5,000th of his net worth. Let's say you were the intended target of the assassin and have a net worth of $2 million. If you donated $400 to the victim's family, it would be the same as the ex-President sending a check for $1 million.

I get setting up a GoFundMe, and would gladly do so if someone took a bullet for me, but why not send $400 bucks as a contribution? It seems like a bargain given Comperatore gave his life.

Here’s some more fun math. MAGA supporters love to point out how the 45th President donated his $400,000 salary to the government. It sounds really awesome and selfless.

Then again, based on the $5 billion net worth, it doesn't mean much.

$400,000 goes into $5 billion 12,500 times. Again, based on a $2 million net worth, that's like you donating $160 to charity, generous but hardly significant.

Meanwhile Corey Comperatore’s widow commented to the NY Post, as per X.

“Helen Comperatore, the wife of Corey Comperatore, the man who was murdered at the Trump rally on Saturday, tells the NY Post that Donald Trump has yet to reach out to her family.

‘Helen also said that she refused to accept a condolence call from President Biden: ‘My husband was a devout Republican, and he would not have wanted me to talk to him…. I don’t have any ill-will toward Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics. I support Trump, that’s who I’m voting for but I don’t have ill-will towards Biden.’ ”
