BURGLARY INTERRUPTED: Police were alerted to suspicious activity near Seneca and 24th Streets at almost 4 p.m. Friday by an off duty officer who gave chase. Police arriving on the scene saw a male fleeing and tried to radio for help. When a handheld radio didn’t work, they called NFPD. One suspect was detained. Responding officers detained two more. The trio, all from Niagara Falls, were charged with criminal possession of stolen property valued at more than $3,000 and possession of burglary tools. Precious metals were recovered.
LAUNDRY LIFTING: A Linwood Avenue man was detained and charged with petit larceny at about 8:42 a.m Saturday after he was observed taking numerous laundry related items from Family Dollar without paying.
DRUNK AND LOITERING: Police were called to the city parking ramp where a man was reported to be loitering in a stairwell at about 12:22 a.m. Sunday. A Barker man was located and taken into custody on charges of restricted use of alcohol in an open container. He had a 12-ounce can of Fourloko and a 40 ounce can of Steel Reserve.
HOW NOT TO BEHAVE: An officer on patrol on Niagara Street at 1:48 p.m. Monday was passed by a driver who had no seatbelt on and executed a traffic stop. The driver, a Welch Avenue man, exited his vehicle, insisted this was not a traffic stop because the officer’s lights were not on. He refused to provide ID and was charged with no seatbelt and obstructing governmental administration.
