PETIT LARCENY: Police were called to Portage Road Family Dollar at 9:55 a.m. Monday after an incident involving a man from Maryland who was quiet and polite when he bought a Black and Mild but who returned and attempted to steal a Pepsi 12-pack and other items. He was interrupted by employees and fled. Police located him at the bus station and took him into custody on a charge of petit larceny.
SAME SUSPECT: The same Bortonsville, Md. man was arrested again at 12:39 p.m. Tuesday when he allegedly took a $50 sweatshirt from a shop in the One Niagara Building and hid. He was found sitting in the cafe and charged with petit larceny.
DWI: Police observed a vehicle being driven by a North Avenue man at 4:59 p.m. Tuesday on Linwood Avenue near 24th Street. The driver told police he was test driving the vehicle. The subject at slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. He failed field sobriety tests and was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation with 3 or more open suspensions, aggravated unlicensed operation under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating and unregistered vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, no inspection, no license plate, improper plates and operating while impaired by drugs.
THIRD TIME, TWO DAYS: The twice arrested Maryland man was back again on Tuesday at One Niagara at about 9:03 p.m. Tuesday when he was refusing to leave. Asked to leave, the suspect physically resisted. He was charged with obstructing governmental administration, trespassing and resisting arrest.
LOOKING FOR AN UMBRELLA: Just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, a Buffalo man was arrested near 1246 Pine Avenue after he was seen trying to break into a vehicle. The suspect told police he was looking for an umbrella. He was taken into custody on a charge of petit larceny.
SHOPLIFTER: Police were called to Target at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday for an alleged shoplifter. A St. Catherines, Ont. resident allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for items valued at $246. She was charged with petit larceny.
FOURTH TIME, TWO DAYS: At 3:23 p.m. Wednesday, the same Burtonsvill, Md. man was arrested again at One Niagara, this time for stealing a cherry Coke and two bags of Fritos. In addition to another petit larceny, he was charged with burglary
