Into the chasm between St. Patrick and St. Joseph rides a cartoonist.
I’m only a casual college basketball fan, so I don’t pay too much attention to the annual NCAA basketball tournament. Aside from acknowledging March’s wild weather fluctuations, the dates for St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) and St. Joseph’s Day (March 19) are what my mental calendar shows for the waning days of Winter.
This cartoon was a non-political editorial cartoon in 2024, tabbed under “Canal Sludge”, where I occasionally dip into my cobwebbed collection of artsy things to show you like a cat who presents a dead mouse.
It’s been many years since I had a neighbor who celebrated St. Joseph’s Day with a wonderful, delicious table of meatless treats. There were eggplant-based goodies, fishy things whose names I have forgotten, and delicious homemade breads, sweet and not so sweet, and desserts … oh, the desserts!

We're on Whirlpool and have had repeated issues of our cell phones picking up the Canadian cell towers across the gorge and having to argue that we're not roaming to Google fi.
I think the expanded Niagara falls State Park is a good idea because it helps showcase the extensive gorge park and trails from devils hole to the falls. Canadian side does not have anything like that. We are located near Whirlpool and I hope they continue to allow the Meadows to grow wild rather than trying to cr
