CAR POPPER BUSTED: Police observed a man on bicycle riding suspiciously at 1:39 a.m. last Wednesday and, because he had no lights and no bell executed a traffic stop. The Buffalo Avenue resident had no plausible explanation for the mallet, plastic bag and lock pick kit he was carrying. He was booked on charges of possession of burglar tools and riding a bike without a bell/signal device. A large number of car break ins had been reported in the Third Street area may have just been solved.
DON’T DRIVE: A Wilkes Barre, Pa. man operating a vehicle at 1323 Niagara Ave. at 2 p.m. Thursday struck a building with the vehicle he was driving. The driver was charged with operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock, aggravated unlicensed operation, unsafe backing and no inspection.
EBIKE NONSENSE: At 12:56 a.m. Thursday, police were on patrol when they observed a man on an electric bicycle operating the wrong way on 23rd Street near Pine Avenue. He turned east on Walnut Avenue and rode further the wrong way on a one-way, this time on the sidewalk. The suspect refused orders to stop. Police gave chase on foot but were outmatched. Eventually, the suspect ditched the bike and ran through yards. Police chased him down on foot and charged him with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
OBSTRUCTING: At 6:20 p.m. Friday, police were investigating a disturbance at 1604 Niagara Ave. in Niagara Falls and attempting to place a man in custody when a woman who smelled of alcohol allegedly attempted to intervene and became aggressive toward police. When she refused to stand down, she was taken into custody with force and charged with obstructing governmental administration.
SOCK THEFT: Police were called to Portage Road Family Dollar at 9:22 a.m. Saturday where a manager caught a Krull Parkway woman allegedly attempting to take 12 pairs of socks valued at $34 without paying. She was charged with petit larceny.
ASSAULT: Police were called to 6711 Buffalo Ave. for a welfare check at 10:12 p.m. Saturday that quickly turned to an assault investigation. A man there was visibly intoxicated, bleeding from his mouth and missing a tooth. He told police a friend had punched him in the face. Police located the suspect asleep on the couch and took him into custody on a charge for 3rd degree assault.
LET THE POLICE DO THEIR JOB: At 5:40 a.m. Sunday, outside Hometown Mini Mart at 18th and Linwood police were attempting to complete a traffic stop when two women refused to let them do their job, interfered, became confrontational and were charged with obstructing governmental administration.
