With Congress paralyzed, Democrats winning majorities in the midterms will likely make for good political theater and perhaps hearings and an impeachment but little action.
I had to take the day off yesterday when a friend had an unexpected business crisis and I helped him out. A regular reader and supporter from the before times, Daily Dave, suggested yesterday that when I take a day off, I let people know by posting a photo of my favorite poodle the way Heather Cox Richardson shares an image of bucolic Maine when she steps back from chaos for a day. I am going to do that. When Short Take and the Express skip posting it shall be known as a Gord Day. Today is a good day, not a Gord Day but he may get a walk later

GOP considers healthcare cuts
They need billions to pay for the Trump war. Republicans are now suggesting a new “cost sharing” arrangement which will save $30 billion while resulting in 300,000 more citizens losing coverage. Never underestimate the level of stupidity MAGA is capable of but there is the matter of that war being really unpopular and midterms coming as well. Bad government on voting
Crying “fraud” and passing new regulations to stop it is a cover for lacking strategy that voters favor. It is easier to stay in power when you ensure fewer people can vote.
