Hey, it is a sign of hope on Main Street.
The Niagara Orleans Land Improvement Corporation, with the help of the Niagara County IDA and maybe even help from the state, is working to redevelop Main Street in Niagara Falls.
The strip of buildings flowing south from Ontario Avenue toward Portage Road was taken from creditors by the city earlier this year.
Dumpsters now line Main Street with Rodriguez Construction, retained by NORLIC, cleaning and sanitizing several buildings.
There was a tour of building for developers on Tuesday.
It appears the redevelopment initiative, after the failed promises of Hastings and Blue Cardinal, is real this time.
It’s also worth noting the vacant lots owned by the city have been mowed as well.
Plans are moving forward to convert the Jenss building into Niagara University student housing. A developer interested in the early going is no longer in the mix.

I assume the family is still there, and will be displaced by the sale, unless they have the funds to purchase the house. I wish the best for them but also, thank you for highlighting that there is affordable housing during this time when rents are an absolute crisis.
I wish them well too but even if you disagree, when you set up a GoFundMe, pay the darn fine.
Chris wasn't all bad......he took some awesome pictures of his various desserts! The hiking excursions were superb! The coffee with Chris will thankfully continue with Chris McKimmie. I must say I will miss the carpet bagger too!
I agree with Tim H. A carpetbagger can't eat if he can't sell hot air. Chris was a great SHOWMAN with very few successful circus acts to show for his efforts. He did get you to think. And he did bring the truth to those who were interested in those Saturday morning coffees.
