TOWN OF NIAGARA, NY – Niagara County Legislators Christopher McKimmie and Chris Robins have announced the allocation of $5,000 in Community Partnership Funding to the Town of Niagara Active Hose Fire Company. The check was presented to Laura Sweeney-Goodlander, who serves as Treasurer of the fire company, by Legislator McKimmie. This funding will be used to strengthen the department’s emergency medical services (EMS) response, ensuring first responders have the necessary resources to provide high-quality pre-hospital care.
As the two legislators representing the Town of Niagara, McKimmie and Robins have consistently advocated for investments in public safety. Both serve on the County’s Community Safety and Security Committee, working to support law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services across Niagara County.
McKimmie, a longtime supporter of volunteer fire and ambulance services, brings firsthand experience to the effort. Having served as a volunteer firefighter for a decade, he also sits on the Niagara County Fire Advisory Board, where he works closely with local departments to address their needs.
“Volunteer fire companies are the backbone of our emergency response system,” said Legislator McKimmie. “Niagara Active plays a critical role in keeping the Town of Niagara safe, and this funding will help ensure they have the tools needed to continue delivering life-saving services to our residents.”
Legislator Robins echoed those sentiments, emphasizing the importance of equipping first responders with the resources they need. “Supporting our local fire companies is an investment in public safety,” Robins said. “We are proud to work together to bring this funding to Niagara Active Hose and will continue to advocate for the needs of our emergency responders.”
The funding comes as part of Niagara County’s ongoing commitment to strengthening emergency services and supporting the dedicated volunteers who answer the call. Legislators McKimmie and Robins remain committed to ensuring first responders in the Town of Niagara have the resources they need to serve the community effectively.
