The community engagement walk happened again Saturday morning.
Here’s how it works:
Show up at Whirlpool State Park at 9:45 a.m. Look for Uniquia Lewis or her son Ahmad. Uniquia wears a Hijab (Muslim head covering) if that makes her easier to identify.
Join them for a walk of the Whirlpool Stairs. The important thing is to know all are welcome. Every week there will be more people. Bring your friends, dog, family or anyone else.
There are lots of berries to eat along the path, black caps and thimble berries. The round leaf dogwood berries are not edible.
Take your time on the walk. It is not a race but a chance to commune with nature. Even if you don’t see the people, make the walk, just for fun.
Beth and I had one of those surreal moments this week again. The one where we walk along the river and say “can you believe we live here? We don’t have to go home, pack up our stuff and head back home?” Living in Niagara Falls for us is a bit like being on perpetual vacation.
Come see why we feel that way at 10 a.m. next Saturday. I’ll be the guy with the brown poodle.
Thank you to Uniquia, and Ahmad for leading this fun weekly celebration of our great community.
Just wondering if the contract to run the ice rink at Hyde Park has anything with getting a contract to run the ice rink at the Centennial Park? Because even when the people don't want some thing the Mayor always get his way.
Partly Cloudy , with a high of 76 and low of 59 degrees. Mist for the morning, sunny in the afternoon, clear during the evening, overcast overnight.
And what is the projected impact to the surrounding communities? I keep hearing dire warnings of noise and vibration to houses that make the area unlivable, but I don't know about this issue to see what the truth is, who it will negatively impact, and how much.
