Murder at 9th and Ferry

A Sunday press release from City Administrator Anthony Restaino on behalf of the Mayor confirmed a Saturday homicide near 449 9th St. It was the first street violence murder of the year. There have been 3 murders relating to domestic violence. Here’s the release:

(Niagara Falls, New York) On August 24, 2024, at approximately 8:50pm the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to the area of 449 – 9th Street for a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police found a large crowd from a nearby memorial gathering and a male victim unresponsive on the front lawn from what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the chest.

Officers began attempting to secure the area while providing life saving measures to the victim. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. At this time, the victim’s name is not being released.

Only description of the suspect is a male dressed in all black with a hoodie pulled over his head last seen running south in the 400 block of 9th Street.
