Beth and I kayaked for the first time together.
We rented from @libbybroderick at Niagara Outfitters in Wilson and paddled up 12-Mile Creek, a perfect one-mile journey.
Joshua was sitting in the back, playing his guitar as we arrived. He met us with a smile, fitted us for life jackets and was exceedingly patient in instructing Beth how to paddle.
The day was steamy. The birds were spectacular, from wood ducks to a flicker, red-winged blackbirds, a common yellowthroat and even a kingfisher perching and chirping nervously.
We were out for about an hour on flat, still water framed by willows and cattails and accompanied by what may have been blue skimmer dragonflies.
When we returned, I pulled the boats across the docks and back up to shore.
When we walked back up, Joshua was playing his guitar again. He was grateful I brought the kayaks back up from the dock because many people don’t.
It cost us $50 for the adventure. You can learn more or plan your own adventure at https://niagaraoutfitters.com/
