Parker's Pit mac and cheese steals the show

I only ate a couple times in the Como Airport. The place was old, kind of tired, comfortable for memories and seniors. When it closed it was sad but not tragic. It reminded me of somewhere I would have eaten with my long-departed maternal grandparents

After a few months, Parker’s Pit began announcing it would open at 10158  Niagara Falls Blvd.

@Mark Bruning had operated out of Middleport for years and relocated.

He keeps peppering social media with daily specials. For example, slow-smoked corned beef and cabbage will be offered Sunday. Don't miss it.

Friday, it was smoked salmon and two sides for $11. Beth and I went last night.

The salmon was good as a healthy Lenten alternative to a fish fry. Coleslaw and mustard potato salad were also very good. We paid a $1 upcharge for mac and cheese.

It stole the show with perfect cheddar, some crispy brown bits and a creamy texture. I would eat it as an entre.

Mark and his wife Candice both were working last night, as was their son Parker.

With a tip, we walked away for less than $30. I can’t wait to go back to try the barbecue. I love Brickyard in Lewiston, but the menu there has been the same for a long time and it’s a bit expensive as well as always crowded. Simply Soul is great too. Parker’s Pit lifts fine bbq to a different level.

If you go, please note they don’t have a license yet to sell alcohol.

I might have to make it back Sunday for corned beef. The smoked brisket standard was established years ago by @Bill Storr of the former Smoke, Fire and Spice in Clarence. You can find the Parker's Pit menu here. https://parkerspit.com/

Not your daddy's deli. Peter Bruning's custom-wrapped trucks sits with it's lights flashing in the Niagara Falls Boulevard parking lot.
