Seth Brauchler was in plain sight but under the radar. He lives in LaSalle in Niagara Falls now but came from Buffalo.
He likes to paint deserted/empty/declining space, sometimes photographed by his mother, like an image of a collapsed building and a pile of bricks with a picnic table inside and a ladder for access where people had been hanging out. It might look unsafe but yet it is a place.
The art he made that spoke to us was an image of the waste canal flowing from Durez on Buffalo Avenue toward the river. His images are dark, and dystopian but his energy is pleasant, positive and contemplative. You can see more of his art online at etsy.com/shop/ramblingseth .
