I am a writer. I believe in Niagara Falls, New York, and its future. I can show you the best way to the Maid of the Mist and Goat Island. I can also recommend the best hotels or, if it is more your thing, the best hostel, bed and breakfast, Airbnb or VRBO. Niagara Falls Express will tell you about the good places to hear music or eat, small businesses, usually not chains. I will also keep you filled in on activity at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center as well as Niagara University's Arts and Cultural Center. I will also tell you about people, whether it's Gailan Baillie who runs Bike Rentals or Steve Carroll from the Niagara Falls Salvation Army. I have bachelors degree in public relations and journalism from the former Utica College of Syracuse University (now Utica University). I worked as a weekly newspaper editor in East Aurora and Clarence for 6 years before going to the Tonawanda News, a 6-day daily, as a reporter, then sports editor and managing editor. I left in 2000 to try corporate public relations before returning to the paper in 2002 to sell ads. In 2005, I studied for and received my life, accident and insurance license. I left full time to go to New England Financial. I stayed in that agency building a successful financial services act until September of 2020 when I sold my practice to a colleague. I worked for a short time in a bank before heading to the newspaper business. My wife Beth and I moved from Clarence to the DeVeaux neighborhood in Niagara Falls in 2021 after 30 years in Clarence. We love the Falls, Lewiston and the culture here. I am also the author of "A Short Take on Today's News" which is a daily information and opinion blog published as a daily status on Facebook since March of 2015. You can always call, email or write with story ideas or check out Short Take. I would like you to make a monthly voluntary contribution to the Niagara Falls Express but even if you don't, thank you for reading my page and supporting anyone who chooses to advertise here.
