Youth Advisory Board formed
NIAGARA FALLS, NY – The Niagara Falls Youth Advisory Committee has named 17 local students as youth ambassadors to serve as intermediary representatives, acting as a bridge between the committee and the youth in the community. Students were selected and recommended as youth ambassadors in collaboration with the Niagara Falls City School District.
Niagara Falls City Council members unanimously approved the establishment of a Youth Advisory Committee to connect with young people in the city and strengthen their engagement in civic life, public safety, neighborhood stability, and long-term community success.
“Our youth ambassadors will play a crucial role in the implementation and recommendations for youth-based initiatives led by community-based organizations and the City of Niagara Falls,” said Niagara Falls Council Member Bridgette Myles. “Hearing ideas directly from our ambassadors will help shape the future of Niagara Falls for our local youth and the surrounding community.”
These students will now attend the bi-monthly advisory committee meetings to formalize recommendations for youth programming.
Council Member Bridgette Myles oversees the committee, collaborates with the nine members, and provides recommendations to the city council. Former city youth services director, Sanguin Starks, was elected President, Brittany Searight is Vice President, and Stephanie Alicia Phipps is Secretary.
Meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays at 5:30 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall in Niagara Falls.
