North Tonawanda Mayor Tylec is the new Chairman of the Board of
Directors and Denise Abbott is the new Vice
Chair for United Way of Greater Niagara, ushering in a new phase of leadership as the organization continues its mission to strengthen youth development region wide.
Tylec previously served as Vice Chair and brings a long-standing commitment to community service and a strong record of public leadership. In his new role.
Tylec will help guide United Way’s strategic direction, deepen community partnerships, and
support initiatives that advance youth-focused programs throughout Niagara County.
Stepping into the role of Vice Chair Abbott brings extensive leadership experience across both the labor movement and the healthcare sector. Abbott currently serves as President of the WNY Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO, and has worked as a registered nurse for more than 20
years. A member of the UWGN Board since 2024, she has been a key contributor to the agency’s annual campaign, serving as co-chair for several years.
