Babysteps on Main Street

You might think there is nothing going on on Main Street but there is if you look closely. The jewelry store at Main and Cleveland is getting a new roof. Centofanti Construction was working all last week.

Meanwhile, at 1902 Main Street demolition work has started with the removal of loose brick preceding reconstruction.

Both of those projects are the sort of stabilization effort that precedes reconstruction.

One recent weekday, the old rectory on Cleveland, the beautiful sandstone structure with a modern addition on the front had the board off the door. The structure had been closed up for years.

The first reaction to such a scene in that section of Main Street is that someone has broken in to steal scrap metal.

Alas, within a day the door had a functional lock. That only happens when someone is actually showing interest in the property.
