SHORT A QUARTER: Workers at Family Dollar Portage Road called police at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday after a customer dispute. A man asked the cashier to let him cash out even though he was 25 cents short. When the cashier refused, he told the managers he would “clap” them. Then he allegedly went to a car outside, grabbed pepper spray and returned to the store to blast the employee, telling police she “grabbed hers so I went and got mine out the car.” The suspect was charged with unlawful possession of a noxious matter and 3rd degree assault.

DWI: At 1:51 a.m. Sunday, 9th Street man was driving on Niagara Avenue when his vehicle struck a parked car. He told police he had one beer at a friend’s house, later mentioned being at a bar and failed field sobriety tests. He was charged with DWI, failure to keep right, moving from a lane unsafely and aggravated unlicensed operation.

MENACING: Police responded to the area of 2100 Ferry Ave. for a report of an assault at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday. A resident there had a dispute with a neighboring homeowner, blaming her for his illegally parked car being towed. The suspect became irate, went in his home slamming the door and shattering the glass, and returned to threaten the victim with a kitchen knife. Police reviewed cell phone footage and charged him with menacing.

UNRULY: At 2:23 a.m. Monday, police observed a Subaru pass a stop sign at Niagara and Seventh near Seneca One Stop and executed a traffic stop. The driver, a Niagara Street man, became immediately argumentative and hyperactive. The suspect came back as wanted on a domestic violence warrant. The suspect comported himself with great hostility. In addition to failure to stop, aggravated unlicensed operation, and operating without a license, he was charged with resisting arrest and taken into custody on the warrant.

FLEEING: Police were called to a two-car crash at 22nd and Cleveland where a driver had fled the scene. Reviewing camera footage from a nearby residence allowed officers to identify a South Avenue man as the suspect. He was tracked down and identified as on parole. Then suspect was charged with criminal mischief for damaging a one-way sign and fence, leaving the scene of an accident, moving from a lane unsafely and reckless driving.
