Pothole priorities drive us all nuts. They never fix the ones we want. The Pothole Killer stinks. Cold patch doesn’t work either. Why don’t they try something different?
In the middle of that, consider a few things:
- Hot patch does work but only when the plant is open.
- The Pothole Killer sucks.
- Every community, especially the older ones, has issues with potholes. Niagara Falls is not unique.
As for new ideas?
- The city just ordered a hot machine that will enable pothole filling year round and will feed mostly on millings.
- Crews are out there on overtime. It helped it passed the council on the first vote. Delays could negatively impact repairs because those crews are not available once regular paving season starts.
- They are trying new a new strategy. Rough sections on Portage Road by the cemetery and on Rainbow Boulevard were milled and repaved within recent weeks. Both stretches of road were so deteriorated they were undrivable.
