About that seiche

The wind pushed extra water from Lake Erie into the Niagara River which is said to be raging by Three Sisters Island. I wonder if the Scow will break free.

If you go back to December, 2022, when a Toyota Camry was driven into the river, it rested in the upper rapids for several days before a seiche pushed it over the American Falls.

Feed the birds

The sign says don’t feed the animals, and please don’t feed the squirrels but it is worth visiting the parking area by Three Sisters Islands on Goat Island to feed the chickadees and titmice from your hand.

While feeding the birds I have been approached by a ranger who pointed at the sign and gave tacit permission but said please do not feed the squirrels.

Time for Microspikes

With all the ice accumulation along the trails in Whirlpool State Park walking Gord Sunday became extra fun.

Before leaving the house, I put on microspikes. The rubber mounted chains have titanium spikes on the bottom.

The result is being able to walk across ice with sure footing while the poodle slides all over the place.
