Academy Park in Lewiston is a gem, whether hosting the Artisan Farmers Market, or a Ray Berry production.
Heck, the Italian Festival, that celebration of greasy food and kitsch that hit its peak on Hertel Avenue in Buffalo will be in Lewiston next summer.
The Kiwanis Club of Lewiston presented a $29,500 check to Mayor Anne Welch and Electrician Dave Rulli Monday night, to launch the long-planned electrical modernization of Academy Park. The project—originally initiated by the late community leader Jerry Wolfgang—includes burying electrical lines and installing nine electrical ports throughout the park. The Village of Lewiston will provide trenching and pole removal at no cost.
This event will highlight a major infrastructure improvement benefiting festivals, concerts, and future community events, while honoring Wolfgang’s legacy and the Kiwanis Niagara County Peach Festival. Photo courtesy Niagara Gazette #kiwanis #AcademyPark #peachfestival

I too always thought "Devil's Hole" was a curious name because, as you say, it preceded the white man. Last I checked, 'the devil' is part of the white man's mythology. I wonder what the name is in Seneca and if there's any other possible translations.
Great points. Thanks for reading. So many questions. Maybe some linguistics expert could research it. Have a great day.
I would also love to hear about an arbor plan besides "call us when a tree falls in the street".
Great point. We need to push for an arbor plan. I once spoke to a retired forester from the Town of Tonawanda. During the Dyster years, he tried to get the city to go in on writing a grant for a tree nursery. He told me he couldn't even get a return phone call.
