SUSPENDED AND WARRANTS: At 3 a.m. Saturday, police observed a vehicle turn from Pine Avenue onto 19th Street with signalling and executed a traffic stop. The driver, a Grand Island man, was ticketed for no turn signal, driving with a suspended license and taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.
DARK WINDOW AND NO PLATE: At 2 p.m. Sunday, police observed a vehicle at 18th and Pine with dark tinted windows and no front plate. The drive, a 16th Street resident, was ticketed for both.
SHOPLIFTING: At 2 p.m. Friday, police were called to Dollar Tree on Portage Road for a report of shoplifting. The suspect was located at Pine and Portage thanks to his pink pants, pink shirt, pink hat and black jacket. He was brought back to the store with the Ramen noodles he allegedly took and charged with petit larceny.
WARRANT: At 1:08 a.m. Friday, police saw a woman riding a bike without a light in the 1800 block of Walnut Avenue and stopped for a chat. She gave a false name and tried to flee the scene. Police chased her down, verified her identity and took her into custody on an outstanding warrant.
DWI SUSPICION: At 3:25 a.m. Sunday, an officer issuing parking citations on Weston Avenue reported a vehicle passed with a valid registration but registered to a suspended driver. The officer executed a traffic stop.The driver wreaked alcohol and had multiple suspensions for DWI. He refused field sobriety tests and was generally uncooperative as he was taken into custody. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and driving with a revoked license but was determined not to be intoxicated.
