There is no forgetting Ohio

Trump’s invasion of Democratic cities echoes a dark chapter in our history: when President Nixon sent the National Guard to Kent State University in Ohio.
Many of those guardsmen were barely older than the students they confronted, yet the standoff ended in tragedy, with four young people killed and nine others wounded for daring to protest the Vietnam War.
Today, Trump is fueling a similar kind of division, pitting Americans against one another with the false claim that crime is spiraling out of control, when in fact the data shows the opposite. His politics of fear and confrontation only deepen the wounds of a nation that should be healing.
