Final petition challenge fails

The last Democratic petition challenge for Niagara Falls Council died a quick death in State Supreme Court Tuesday.

In the end, FedEx was to blame. Petitions ruled valid by the board of elections were further challenged for the endorsed candidates as well as challengers.

Ultimately, for unendorsed Democrats Michia Lee and Sylvana Rahman as well as endorsed Bridgette Myles, service of court summons was at issue.

FedEx didn’t serve papers in a timely manner or brought them to the wrong address.

The same thing happened with 6th District Legislature candidate Donte Richardson, a Republican.

The bottom line: Three seats are open for city council. The ballot in the June Democratic primary now contains endorsed Democrats John Kinney, Noah Munoz and Bridgette Myles, unendorsed incumbent Donta Myles and challengers Lee and Rahman.

Bridgette Myles could still face a criminal investigation. There were unheard allegations of petition fraud against Bridgette Myles, Rahman and Lee.
