SHOPLIFTING: An officer moonlighting as Walmart security was alerted to a suspicious person pushing a cart of groceries out the door at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday. The officer and security detained George McClain, 60, of 545 20th St. McClain was charged with petit larceny. Items he attempted to take were valued at $580.66.
PETIT LARCENY: Mark Smith, 38, of 1013 ½ Grove St. was charged with petit larceny at about 4:30 p.m.Thursday. Smith, a Walmart employee, was accused of consuming food and drink he did not pay for while working. The items allegedly taken were valued at $26.30.
WARRANT EXECUTION: At about 2:04 a.m. Thursday officers on patrol near Sal Maglie stadium observed Ian Riley, 48, homeless, wandering in the cold with no shoes and not appearing dressed for the weather. Riley first gave a false name and told police he was looking for his things. When he was properly identified, police took him into custody on an auto theft warrant out of Hamburg.
BROKEN TAILLIGHT: Officers on patrol near 1500 Pine Ave. saw a vehicle with a broken taillight and executed a traffic stop. The driver, Kurt O’Neill, 56, of 703 Walnut St. was charged with equipment violation stoplights, no license plate, no registration, improper plates and no insurance.
BURGLARY: Police were called to a Niagara Falls Boulevard motel for a report of harassment. Tywaun Barnes, 43, was charged with burglary and harassment for allegedly choking a resident after entering her room without permission at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
