Edmund Fitzgerald commemoration Wednesday
The annual Lewiston Council on the Arts observance of the Edmund Fitzgerald will be held at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday at Brickyard Brewing.
Admission is free for council members and $10 for nonmembers. A buffet will be available for $20 per person.
Artist Tom Asklar, Niagara Falls native, Edmund FitzGerald scholar and Williamsville teacher, is the featured speaker.
In most years, Asklar is joined by his brother, Niagara Falls firefighter John in tolling the bell for those who died that fateful November day.
Jeremy Hoyle of the Strictly Hip has also offered a rendition of the Gordon Lightfoot ballad, accompanied by Bruce Wojcik and Dave Thurman.
The event, unfortunately, conflicts with the Niagara Falls Council meeting.
Moderate rain, with a high of 64 and low of 26 degrees. Sunny in the morning, overcast during the afternoon, patchy moderate snow for the evening, clear overnight.
Interesting how the part about the teacher admitting to what was said. There was enough evidence that it did not need to be discussed with the Board yesterday.
Things are not what they seem. As we used to say, “Watch this space…”
