Bills vs Houston afterthoughts
Yesterday's football game was billed as the "revenge game" by the media and some fans.
An outstanding wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, was traded last year from the Buffalo Bills to the Houston Texans. This somehow set off a rumor that this would be revenge game.
With a little prodding, the media insinuated that Josh Allen and Diggs held hard feelings against each other and this game would settle it. The fans took up the chant.
The game itself ended up with Houston winning 20-23, leaving the Bills looking for excuses. These came in the form of fault and others taking blame.
Josh Allen with 9 of 30 passes completed, many passes were dropped, and many defense players were out due to injury and suspension.
Yet the biggest complaint was against Coach McDermott, who took the blame for errors in play-calling in the last of the game.
With little left on the time clock and the Bills on their own 3-yard line. The coach called 3 pass plays, which all were missed, leaving them no alternative but to punt, which led up to a 59-yard game-winning field goal and time expended.
I personally agree with ex-coach Bill Cowher, now a sports analyst, who said, "He would have called the passing plays because Josh Allen is a great passing QB. If one of those passes gave Buffalo a first down, they could have run out the time themselves, leaving Houston no time left for a field goal and forcing the game into overtime.
Snatching defeat from victory
Dang that end of game sequence was ugly. So was Josh. He was off all game, just wide or too high. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2024/10/bills-texans-takeaways-buffalos-offense-spirals-as-stefon-diggs-bests-former-team.html
Dumb, dumber and dumbest
This one was on McDermott. To not at least get to OT is unconscionable. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2024/10/bills-sean-mcdermott-roasted-for-insane-management-there-may-not-be-a-dumber-decision.html
