Halal groceries open

Saw ribbons and lights and pizazz at the place formerly known as Ted Grana and Son.

I stopped and met Ahmad, a Bengali who is growing his new business and loves Niagara Falls.

He moved here from New York City. I peaked toward the back and saw a woman facing Mecca in prayer.

There are fresh vegetables, lychee fruit and bitter melon and squash I do not know. More products, and meat are coming.

Equally, on Main Street is another Halal grocery in an abandoned Wilson Farms that last housed a smoke shop selling junkfood.

It still has some junk food but also fresh things and ethnic prepared food in the freezer.

Be careful if you buy chicken samosas. They will be spicier than you expect.  The proprietor on Main Street offered a $10 chicken lunch that looked a lot like Souvlaki. I will go back for it on a different day.
