PEDESTRIAN RUN DOWN: A passerby driving on Niagara Falls Boulevard near 56th reported seeing a black pick up truck strike a pedestrian at about 8:41 Sunday. Police and firefighters canvassed the area and found the victim down the embankment. The vehicle was damaged and resting against the guard rail. The driver, Michaela K. Gardner, 63, of 862 Revere Ave. North Tonawanda was charged with operating a motor vehicle with blood alcohol over .08%, DWI first offense and driving with imprudent speed. Police asked Gardner and her passenger where the pedestrian was. Both said they didn’t see anyone. Gardner told police she had slid on ice and had “a couple beers.” She failed field sobriety tests.
ARSON: A garage behind a residence at 1301 15th Street was damaged by an intentionally set fire. Investigators concluded someone attempted to start the house on fire as well. The resident of the home told police she was in the process of moving and her brother had sold the home.
GRILL STOLEN: A resident of the 2400 block of Linwood Avenue reported the theft of an electric grill valued at $100 from her front porch.
STOLEN NISSAN: A Memorial Parkway resident reported the theft of his Nissan from the alley behind his home some time between 2:35 p.m. and 2 a.m. Friday.
MONEY TAKEN: A resident of the 400 block of 78th Street reported her home burglarized sometime early Friday afternoon someone entered her home and stole $1,574 in cash.
COP ASSAULTED: Police responded to the 8700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard for a report of a man menacing with a weapon. They found Darrell Johnson, 22, of 8710 Niagara Falls Boulevard holding a big stick and acting aggressively at about 6 p.m. Friday. Johnson dropped his stick and conversed with officers before becoming more aggressive. Police took him into custody but he became additionally aggressive allegedly striking an officer in the face. Johnson was charged with disorderly conduct, obscene language, assault with intent to cause physical injury and assault on a police officer. The latter two charges are felonies.
DOOR BUSTED: A resident of the 900 block of Walnut Avenue reported hearing a loud bank on her front door at about 10:30 Tursday night. Indeed her door was smashed. Police estimated damage at $500. The homeowner managed to photograph the suspect whom police identified as Tiffany M. Hughes, 45, of 605 Lisbon Ave. in Buffalo with criminal mischief.
CAR STOLEN: A Jordan Gardens resident reported the theft of her deceased father’ 2009 Saturn from behind his house. The theft occurred sometime between Thursday and Saturday.
DON’T STEAL STEAK: At about 3:50 Saturday afternoon police were called to a Portage Road grocery for a shoplifter in custody. Kyle William Reese, 61, was charged with petit larceny. He allegedly attempted to leave the store with three steaks valued at $50.37. He was charged with petit larceny and released on an appearance ticket.
GARAGE BURGLARIZED LANDLORD REACTS: A resident of the 1900 block of Falls Street reported someone broke into her garage and stole equipment including a snowblower valued at $1,100, a weed whacker valued at $150, A $140 leaf blower and other items. While she was at work, her landlord fixed the broke glass on the mandoor to the garage, fixed the lock and added a lock to an adjacent gate.
ANGRY DRUNK: Police were called to the scene of a Welch Avenue disturbance at about 10:17 p.m. Saturday. Richard Light, 38, was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration.
SUNDAY NIGHT FIGHT: Police called to the scene of shots fired at a convenience store in the 600 block of 19th Street uncovered the aftermath of a fight. Rober Van Every, 27, of 499 80th Street was taken into custody oon charges of assault with intent to cause injury, criminal mischief and 3rd degree reckless endangerment.
LOCK YOUR CAR: A resident of the 500 block of College Avenue reported someone entered his unlocked car on Sunday night at about 6:30 a.m. and stole two credit cards.
LOCK YOUR CAR II: A College Avenue resident in the 300 block reported someone rummaged through their unlocked vehicle early Sunday morning. Nothing was taken.
MENACING: A dispute over between two men over a woman resulted in Matthew Gulley, 31, of 2209 Ontario Ave. being charged with 2nd degree menacing after he allegedly threatened a victim with a pepper ball gun that looked like a real weapon.
CONVERTER THEFT: A Hyde Park Boulevard resident reported the theft of the catalytic converter from his van. It happened in October but was only recently discovered when a friend suggested it might be the reason his van was so loud.
