Yes, potholes are everywhere.
It doesn’t matter if you are in Niagara Falls, Lewiston, Lockport or the Tonawandas. Our freeze/thaw cycle brings the inevitable.
I hit one hard yesterday as I rounded the corner from Main Street onto Third Street and took my eye off the road to look through the intersection after a bus made the turn in front of us. That is a sneaky tight intersection.
Friday city crews were out hotpatching for the first time of the year hitting Pierce Avenue near 11th Street.
Social media keyboard warriors were ranting and raving in ignorance, criticizing the process because cold patch doesn’t work (even if it is better than nothing).
The trouble was they were commenting under photos the city posted showing the hot patch crew.
And just like every time anything comes up in Niagara Falls, they were blaming the government and somehow suggesting things are worse here.
Let’s face it. Somethings are worse, for example, our alleys and abandoned houses and how so many buildings keep burning on 19th Street.
Potholes though? They are an everywhere problem. Even in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where we perceive things to be better the mayor’s phone rings and rings with a multitude of complaints.

I think the expanded Niagara falls State Park is a good idea because it helps showcase the extensive gorge park and trails from devils hole to the falls. Canadian side does not have anything like that. We are located near Whirlpool and I hope they continue to allow the Meadows to grow wild rather than trying to cr
