About those gas prices

We paid $3.49 a gallon at Gail’s on the Tuscarora Reservation Saturday, 70 cents a gallon more than two weeks ago.

According to Gas Buddy, the Sunoco on Hyde Park Boulevard is only $3.59. I am accustomed to the spread between Rez and non-Rez being 30 cents.

It’s also interesting the Rez receipt gives directions, for those inclined, on how to go online to pay your fair share of taxes only either the link, or the Website doesn’t work.

I thought about that while wondering about gas prices in Canada. The trouble is the math. The exchange rate is 73 cents per Canadian dollar. There are 3.79 litres in a US gallon. Gas at Canadian Tire on Thorold Stone Road is $158.9 CDN per litre.

$158.9 multiply times .73 and you get $1.16 USD per litre.

$1.16 per litre times 3.79 litres per gallon means our Canadian friends are paying $4.40 US per gallon.

In US dollars, that means they are paying 18% more per gallon.
