Never enough days and too much to do

Saturday brought Harvest and Hops, the last festival of the season on Center Street in Lewiston as well as the Lewiston Artisan Farm Market as well as the NYPA Wildlife festival.

Harvest and Hops is always a great time. I was impressed to see the organizers handing out swag bags to vendors. It was a nice touch.

In the afternoon, I had to pick up a prescription at Walgreens so I pedaled over to Old Falls Street. $17 for a 32 oz. Warsteiner is a good deal. I’ve never been a big Oktoberfest guy but hey, it was packed and there was German Music. I left without buying beer.

A kestrel? Where?

In a maple tree on Luna Island.

Something about its flight pattern caught my eye on Tuesday. I watched it land in maple tree. Its flight pattern, and color, caught my eye.

I walked below and looked up. There was nothing else it could be. A bluejay-sized falcon looking for lunch.

A pleasant DMV experience

Last Wednesday I took a bike ride around Niagara Falls Wednesday and had to stop at the DMV in Trott High School. I went in the front door. The guard was not at the desk but at the door.

After I locked my bike, and went in, she followed me.

“Can I help you?”

“Where’s the DMV?”

“Walk left, look for the elevator. Downstairs.”

I followed her instructions and found the office at the end of a maze.

There was no line. The clerk was cheerful and took care of my business quickly. I have never had that experience in a DMV before.
