COASTAL CROWD: The bad news that used to be at 19th and Ashland has shifted to the Coastal Station at 601 19th St. where an unruly crowd gathered at about 12:53 a.m. Saturday. Police were called by store management to attempt to disperse the gathering. A Hyde Park Boulevard resident refused to leave and argued with police who forcibly took him into custody on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and criminal trespassing. He was banned from the business.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: A suspect being transported to 1925 Main St. slipped out of handcuffs and punched the glass partition in a patrol car causing damage in excess of $250 and resulting in a charge of criminal mischief.
SHOPLIFTING: Dollar General on Portage Road reported a shoplifter just after noon, Saturday. The 10th Street resident was located at 18th and Walnut, found in possession of cleaning supplies and paper products valued at $15, and transported to the scene of the crime for ID. He was charged with petit larceny.
SHOPLIFTING: At about 7:40 p.m. Saturday, a Niagara Avenue resident was taken into custody on a charge of petit larceny. He paid for some items at the self checkout but attempted to leave the store with items he didn’t scan worth about $110. He was charged with petit larceny.
SHOPLIFTER WITH A TWIST: Police were called to Target for a suspected shoplifter at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The suspect was located in the parking lot in an SUV belonging to a woman who said she did not know him but was meeting to but some food stamps. Items in possession of the suspect were valued at about $337. He was charged with petit larceny.
