SHOULD HAVE GONE INSIDE: Police responded to a loud music complaint at 2474 Whitney Avenue at about 3:55 a.m. Tuesday and discovered a woman asleep at the wheel of her Durango with the vehicle running. After numerous attempts to awaken her failed, police broke the passenger side window and unlocked the door. They helped the suspect from the car. She failed field sobriety tests, refused a chemical breath test, became belligerent toward police and was charged with driving while intoxicated.
RESISTING ARREST: A homeless frequent flyer, Avion Smith was observed walking near Hampton Inn on Rainbow Boulevard at about 12:39 p.m. Tuesday. Smith was known to be wanted on a warrant. Officers approached. Smith resisted, saying to police “I’ll break your fuckin’ face, nigga, that’s what the fuck I am doing.” Smith was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
DWI: At 3:33 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to Dollar General on Hyde Park Boulevard for a report of a drunken driver. Police responding to the scene saw the suspect vehicle weaving between lanes headed southbound and almost striking a pedestrian in front of Hyde Park Elementary. Police pulled the driver over. She stopped in the Tim Horton’s at Hyde Park and Pine Avenue. The suspect smelled of alcohol and, asked if she had been drinking said “I had a coupla.” Asked if she had any injuries or ailments she said “vodka.” The suspect failed field sobriety tests and tested 0.23 on a blood alcohol. She was charged with driving while intoxicated, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, aggravated DWI BAC higher than .18% and moving from a lane unsafely.
OBSTRUCTING: Police were called to a report of people fighting near 1100 Centre Avenue at about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday and observed a known suspect reported to have a fun hurrying away from the scene. The suspect ran, tossing an item wrapped in a bandana into the weeds and running away. When caught, he was charged with obstructing governmental administration and
