VANDALISM: Police responded to a Cleveland Avenue address at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a car window smashed on a vehicle parked on the street.

DWI: A North Tonawanda woman was spotted maneuvering her vehicle in the Portage Road Family Dollar parking lot with no seatbelt evident at about 6 p.m. Tuesday. Police executed a traffic stop and discovered the driver appeared intoxicated. She claimed to have an autoimmune disease but smelled of alcohol. She failed the field sobriety tests she attempted. A chemical test for blood alcohol at police headquarters came back as .21%. A can of “Rita’s Mango-Rita Sparkling Margarita” was recovered at the scene. She was charged with no seatbelt because the shoulder strap was behind her back, aggravated DWI BAC greater than .18 of 1%, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle.

PETIT LARCENY: A homeless man was busted at Walgreens Pine Avenue at 7 p.m. Tuesday and charged with petit larceny for allegedly taking charcoal and lighter fluid without paying. A store employee began recording the suspect who threatened to come back and shoot him.

STOLEN STEREO: A Pierce Avenue resident reported Tuesday night overnight someone smashed the window on his vehicle and stole a sound system valued at $1,500.

PETIT LARCENY: An Elm Court resident who parks his car at Haeberle Plaza daily and plays his saxophone reported at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, a young man took his wallet from the front seat, including $120 in cash and a bank debit card.

DWI: At about 12:23 a.m. Wednesday morning at 30th Street and Garden Avenue, an officer observed a Jeep parked near the entrance to Jordan Gardens facing the wrong way. As the officer approached to write a parking ticket, he noticed the driver slumped over the wheel. He awakened the driver after several attempts. The driver had slow and slurred speech and said he was driving to his mother’s apartment. The driver said he has just left the Elks Lodge. A nearly empty bottle of gin was found in the vehicle. The suspect failed field sobriety tests and blew a 0.185 on the breathalyzer. He was charged with DWI, Stopping/Standing/Parking violation on a highway, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of greater the .08%.
