DWI: Police on patrol on Ferry Avenue near 26th Street saw a vehicle make several unsafe lane changes, drive erratically and executed a traffic stop. The driver appeared drunk but spoke limited English so police contacted Border Patrol for an interpreter. The suspect, with and without the assistance of a interpreter, failed to complete a chemical or breath test. He was charged with moving from a lane unsafely, driving the wrong way on a one-way and driving while intoxicated.

TRESPASSING: (Editor’s note: The Express, as a policy no longer runs names in the police blotter but this frequent flyer shows the need for our society to better handle mental illness and substance abuse. Henceforth, if the Express sees 4 or more reports with your name on them. He was taken into custody, charged with criminal trespass, and back on the street panhandling at Whirlpool and Depot by Monday afternoon.

SNOWBLOWER THEFT: At 9:51 a.m. Saturday a Walnut Avenue resident reported someone stole her snowblower from the unlocked rear room of her residence. The residence was not entered.

TRAFFIC STOP: A resident of the 1100 block of Ferry Avenue was stopped at 6:07 p.m. Friday after his vehicle was observed with a license plate showing a suspended registration.The drive was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, driving with a suspended registration and no insurance.

WARRANT: Police on patrol on Pine Avenue at 3:31 a.m. Monday observed a vehicle with inadequate lights and executed a traffic stop. A passenger was identified as wanted on a warrant for failure to appear.

MUGGED: A man riding a bike near 24th and 18th streets was the victim of an assault sometime before 11:41 p.m. Monday. Officers responding to the report of an assault quickly changed to investigating a robbery. A man known to the victim by a hood name approached him and pushed him off his bike, striking him several times, blackening his eyes and taking $1,100 in cash, his bike and his flip phone. The investigation is ongoing.
