HARASSMENT: Police were called to the city market after an aggressive panhandler threatened an employee who asked her to stop harassing customers and begging for money. The suspect fled the scene at about 10:30 a.m. Friday but was located at 19th St. and Pine Avenue, returned to the scene for positive ID and charged with 3rd degree menacing and harassment.
DRINKIN’ ON PINE AVENUE: Officers on patrol at 5:04 p.m. Friday on Pine Avenue observed a man drinking a large can of beer in front of Horizon Human Services and stopped to talk to him. The suspect answered police inquiries by asking “why you comin’ at me?” Officers took him into custody with force after he became hostile and failed to comply. The suspect was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and consumption of alcohol in a public space.
BECAUSE HE GOT HIGH: Officers monitoring neighboring police transmissions heard a call to the Town of Niagara dispatch from a Samaritan observing a Ram truck traveling erratically on Niagara Falls Boulevard at about 1:37 a.m. Saturday. Police conducted a traffic stop near 56th Street and identified the driver as an Ontario Avenue resident. The suspect, and his car, smelled of marijuana and marijuana smoke. He identified himself as an employee of Green Dragon Dispensary. The suspect was asked to complete the alphabet starting at H and ending at R. He completed S to Z and then stated H to T before uttering a series of letters. The suspect failed numerous field sobriety tests. He said he hadn’t consumed marijuana since 3 and 5 p.m. He failed the one-legged stand and blew a 0.0% on the Breathalyzer. A vehicle search found burned roaches, shake, a glass pipe and two digital scales. The suspect was charged with DUI drugs and moving from a lane unsafely.
FREQUENT FLYER: At 5:55 p.m. Saturday, police observed a frequent panhandler who has been arrested numerous times standing in the intersection of Whirlpool and Depot, aggressively soliciting donations to support his alleged drug habit. The same suspect has been banned from DiCamillos on Linwood. He was taken into custody and charged with aggressive panhandling.
DRUNKEN TRESPASSER: Police were called to the 10th Street fire house for a report of a woman banging on the back door at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday. The intoxicated 6th Street resident continued yelling obscenities and causing grief. Police charged her with disorderly conduct and trespassing.
DWI: Officers patrolling Niagara Avenue near Lockport Street at 3:18 a.m. Monday observed a vehicle with a covered license plate and executed a stop. The driver had slurred speech and could only provide an image of a nondriver ID from Louisiana. He told them he was driving home but homeless. He completed a few field sobriety tests but then refused. During transport the suspect told police “you care about drinking and driving? I’ve been stressed out. Of course I drink and drive. How many times have you drink and drive?” Asked to take a breath test, he said “fuck blowing.” Charges included dirty plate, covered plate and DWI.
