Niagara Falls Police Blotter

FRAUD: An alert Northwest Bank teller thought a check a Main Street resident attempted to pass seemed shaky and called police. Alas, the account owner confirmed she never wrote the $4,928.22 check. The teller saw the signature was different. The police report mentions fraud but lacks a specific charge.

ATV DRIVER BUSTED: A David Drive resident was busted at about 5:19 p.m. Monday after he was observed doing a wheelie on Pine Avenue. An officer alerted other vehicles and followed the dirtbike at a distance. Eventually, police attempted to make a traffic stop but the suspect fled onto CSX property where an officer took him into custody without harm a short time later. The dirtbike was confiscated. The suspect was charged with no insurance, no registration, no inspection, operating a motor vehicle on the street and improper license.

FREQUENT FLYER: At 6:11 p.m. Monday, an aggressive panhandler was arrested by Police for the 4th time in the last two weeks near the City Market. He was charged with aggressive panhandling.

HIT AND RUN: Police were called to Niagara and 9th Streets for a hit-and-run accident at about 10:20 p.m. Saturday after a car was sideswiped by a driver who left the scene. Police executed a traffic stop at another scene and matched headlight pieces from the crash scene to another vehicle. The Niagara Falls Boulevard resident, wanted for absconding from parole, was charged with improper passing, leaving the scene of an accident, no license and aggravated unlicensed operation. The driver was taken into custody for absconding from parole.
