ATTEMPTED ESCAPE: Police were transporting a suspect from the courtroom to the cellblock at headquarters at about 8:37 a.m. Saturday when he attempted to run away. He didn’t succeed but did get a new charge, 1st degree escape.
PETIT LARCENY: A Niagara Falls Boulevard man was taken into custody at about 11:30 Saturday morning inside DiCamillo’s. He allegedly stole items valued at $47 from Ollie’s.
DRUNK DRIVING: At 2:19 a.m. Sunday, an officer observing traffic at Rainbow Boulevard and Quay Street when he observed an SUV run the redlight. The suspect stunk of alcohol but said he had 2 beers a few hours earlier at the casino. The suspect failed field sobriety tests and refused a Breathalyzer or chemical test. He was charged with DWI, driving with an open container in a vehicle, imprudent speed and passing a redlight.
TRESPASSING: A sometimes-homeless frequent flyer was charged with trespassing at about 10:10 a.m. Sunday after complaints of an aggressive panhandler harassing Marketside customers. Police arrived on the scene and saw the suspect enter McDonald’s, which they knew he was previously banned from. The suspect was taken into custody on a charge trespassing. McDonald’s employees said he is a daily problem.
MENACING: Police were called to the 600 block of 15th near Walnut Street for a report of an intoxicated man with a knife at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. The suspect was intoxicated and raging. A man tried to calm him but he pulled a knife and acted threatening. The suspect was taken into custody on charges of menacing and harassment.
PETIT LARCENY: An officer working secondary employment as a Walmart security guard was alerted to an alleged shoplifter. An Illinois woman was charged with petit larceny. She allegedly attempted to take items valued at $153.64.
WARRANT: Police on patrol at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday observed a frequent flyer walking on Niagara Falls Boulevard and took the homeless man into custody on an outstanding warrant.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Police were called to the area of 1031 Niagara Ave. for a report of an intoxicated woman at about 9 p.m. Tuesday. The woman’s son spoke to police but then ranted and raved an cause neighbors to gather before shouting “fuck the police,” he obliged with an charge of disorderly conduct.
