Before 1918, the government was largely funded by tariffs which functioned as a national sales tax on imported goods. Then the revenue act put the largest tax burden on the wealthy. US dollar collapsing
When we went to Toronto in February, the exchange rate was $1 US to $1.3 CDN. Now it is $1 US to $1.41.
