ILLEGAL VEHICLE: Police on patrol on Niagara Falls Boulevard near 47th Street observed a vehicle operating with no plate lamp at about 1:48 a.m. Thursday and executed a traffic stop. The driver, a 10th Street woman, admitted her license was suspended. The plates were switched. Two of the 3 passengers had suspended licenses. The other may have given police a false name.
SWIPING CASH: A Cleveland Avenue resident was charged with petit larceny at Save-a-Lot Pine Avenue after she admitted taking $116 from the register. The manager suspected her of skimming about $800 over the course of a year before she was caught.
LARCENY: Murugan Cafe, Rainbow Boulevard and Old Falls Street reported more than $800 in construction equipment taken over the last several months.
IDENTITY THEFT: A man went to police headquarters to report he attempted to turn on the electricity at a new apartment he just rented when National Grid told him there was already an account open in his name. He never opened it and wanted it reported in case there was fraud.
TRAFFIC STOP: Police on patrol Thursday on Ontario Avenue were alerted to a suspended registration by a license plate reader. The driver said she knew there was a problem with her insurance. She was charged with driving with a suspended license, no registration and no insurance.
RIPPED OFF: A man reported to police he agreed to sell sunglasses and diamond earrings on Facebook Marketplace for $400. He went to 22nd Street and LaSalle Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The exchange was made. The man buying the goods fled the scene. The seller noticed after the purchaser left that the money paid was movie prop money, not cash. At least $10,000 in movie prop money was spread around on Main Street by the Orchard Grill last week.
