Car Trouble

So the transmission went on our 2017 VW Passat Premium with 86,000 miles on it. That was a month ago. I suggested we could survive with one car, sharing on the days I need to go to Williamsville. I could bike other days and even buy an upgraded E-bike. Monday, I went to the Allstate office near Mr. Ventry's, about 10 miles. It was 40 degrees with 40 mph winds and a bit nasty. So here are the choices:

1) Just buy a Class 3 E-bike and share our 2021 Subaru Forester, suck it up buttercup. What's $2,000.

2) Keep the Passat and fix it. (It had an $1,800 turbo replacement in December and likely needs a $1500 air conditioning compressor sometime soon.) Replacing the tranny with a shop in Lewiston that will send it out to have it rebuilt is about $5,500. Having the dealership put in a used tranny with 77,000 miles on it would be $4,200. The car, fixed, is worth $10,000.

3) Spend $26,000 plus tax on a 1-year-old certified Subaru Impreza hatchback with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and 5,000 or so miles.

4) Spend $19,000 on a 2015 Lexus RX350 Crafted (sport) with 49,000 miles on it. That means loaded luxury exceedingly reliable Toyota built but already 10.

5) Some other option I didn't think of yet. All ideas are welcome. It is most important for Beth to be comfortable.
