The World According to Bob

(Editor’s note: Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino issues a weekly proclamation to his minions from his city hall enclave. The Express watches so you don’t have to. This week, he was decidedly upbeat and didn’t take any petty cheapshots at his middling opponents.)

Potholes suck

Crews are still out cold patching. Hot asphalt will not be available until early May. Crews are working in LaSalle and midtown.

Albany visit

The mayor met with leaders from the State Senate and assembly talking about our projects here in the Falls, “specifically our efforts to complete the acquisition of the acreage from Niagara Falls Redevelopment and to build the event center and park. It was very enthusiastically received by the leadership so I am looking forward to further discussions about the project and about their partnership.

“Overall I can tell you, each member I spoke to, and especially the leadership, were very much excited at the fact the city was taking steps to sort of motivate the economic development in a way that hadn’t been done before.”

St. Patrick’s Day

Friday at 4:45 p.m. was the shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade led by the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Happy Birthday

Monday, March 17 is the city’s birthday. You read it on your garbage can. The city will be 133 years old.

In that 133 years there have been many milestones.

“We are hoping to add to those milestones in the city’s development of our community.”
