CITY HALL ASSAULT: At 4:02 p.m. Monday a 76-year-old LaFayette Circle man entered city hall through a backdoor and attempted to pay a bill. The suspect, informed city hall was closed and he would need to leave immediately, allegedly became irate and attacked the security guard placed both hands on the guard’s neck, choking him. The report said it was not the suspect’s first confrontation with city hall staff. He was charged with assault/criminally obstructing an airway.
SHOPLIFTING: Police were called to investigate a shoplifter at the Verizon store on Military Road at about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday. A 52-year-old Buffalo woman was walking toward Walmart when, seeing police approaching, she allegedly ditched 7 pairs of earbuds valued at $225. She was charged with petit larceny.
SHOPLIFTING: An officer moonlighting at Walmart was alerted to an alleged shoplifter attempting to flee the store with a cart of goods. Asked for a receipt she found a random one. Informed she was under arrest, she resisted. The 47 year old Walnut Avenue woman was charged with petit larceny and resisting arrest.
PREMISE CHECK: Police doing a premise check at 9:35 a.m. last Friday at 521 19th St. arrested 4 Niagara Falls residents, ages 35, 48, 34 and 49 on charges of criminal trespass. They were all charged with criminal trespass.
OBSTRUCTING AND RESISTING: Police were called to the parking lot of Niagara Falls Memorial nursing home for a report of a dispute between two females at 7:15 p.m. Friday. The victim reported she was going to loan money to the suspect to aid in the purchase of a home but changed her mind. The suspect allegedly took the money from the victim who called police. Both were in the victim’s vehicle. When the suspect refused to cooperate with police, they forcibly removed her from the vehicle and hit her with pepper spray. She was charged with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest but the victim declined to press robbery charges.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Officers were called to Shorty’s on Pine Avenue for a report of criminal mischief at 11:35 p.m. Saturday. Initially, the report was an unwanted male. The man in question, a 32-year-old Pine Avenue resident, was smashing windows at the business. As police arrived, the suspect was walking away. He ignored numerous commands to stop. He was chased down, taken into custody and place in the rear of a patrol car. The owner of Shorty’s, which recently opened and was having a soft launch, reported a man and woman were arguing so dramatically security asked them to leave. The suspect took out a knife and started smashing windows. He was charged with criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
HARASSMENT: A3t about midnight Sunday, a 34-year-old resident of Elmwood Avenue was taken into custody on charges of criminal mischief and harassment following a domestic dispute between two roommates over an impending divorce. The arrested man, at police headquarters, said he felt dizzy and that he had taken 10 Lorazapam pills earlier in the day. He was turned over to AMR and transported to Niagara Falls Memorial.
STOP ON RED: An officer doing speed enforcement on Niagara Falls Boulevard at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday observed an FJ Cruiser for left on red and executed a traffic stop. The driver, a 68 year old Stephenson Avenue man, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd and 3rd, and running a redlight. His license was suspended for ability impaired by alcohol.
TRAFFIC STOP: An officer on patrol on Porter Road at about 9:47 a.m. Monday was alerted by a license plate reader to suspended plates. A Hyde Park man, 24, was charged with operating without a license/suspended registration, no insurance and no inspection.
