SHOPLIFTER: An off duty Niagara Falls officer working at Walmart was alerted to a suspected shoplifter at about 11:37 a.m. Thursday. Bari McHugh, of 545 20th St. was accosted in the vestibule. McHugh was charged with petit larceny. Merch valued at $188 was returned to the store.

FOOD FIGHT: An officer moonlighting as a Walmart security guard was called to a food fight in the produce section just after noon Thursday. Multiple females were going bananas, throwing produce at one another. Produce valued at $81.43 was damaged. As the officer, and Walmart personnel attempted to intervene, the involved females began to spit at each other. Malay Matthews, 18, of 1861 Cleveland Ave. allegedly became aggressive toward police, threatening to fight an officer. The officer, with the help of Walmart staff, was able to take Matthews into custody. Investigating officers obtained 7 videos and 15 photos from Walmart but were unable to determine who threw the first banana. While officers processed Matthews at headquarters, her mother showed up. Police reported seeing the mother at the scene but she refused cooperation. She may have been punched in the face but it was hard to tell from the report. Matthews was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct/fighting/violent behavior and obstructing governmental administration. There was no other charged party on the report.

JED RETURNS: Officers were called to the area of 740 Hyde Park Blvd. for a report of a man obstructing traffic at about 10:40 a.m. Friday. Police approached Jedidiah Atkins, 39, of 2619 Niagara St. and asked him to get out of the street. He complied. Shortly thereafter, officers observed him return to obstructing traffic. They charged him with disorderly conduct, obstructing traffic and sent suspicious materials in his possession that might be narcotics for testing. At 4 p.m. Friday, Aiken was observed at Walmart, a store he had been banned from since February, 2019. He was taken into custody on a charge of trespassing.

SHOPLIFTING: An officer moonlighting as a Walmart security guard was alerted to two males who allegedly placed numerous items in bags and attempted to leave without paying at 11 p.m. Saturday. Dakota Watts, 19, of Brooklyn and Kenneth Williams, 19, of Bronx were arrested on charges of petit larceny.

TRAFFIC STOP: An officer on patrol on Cudaback Avenue observed a car roll through a stopsign at about 3:48 a.m. Sunday and executed a traffic stop. Jabbar Ellis, 25, of 4886 University Court was arrested on charges of failure to display a license plate, no registration, no inspection, failure to stop at a stop sign, driving with a suspended registration and inadequate plate lamp.
