Social media, like this, is filled with bullies and posers and nonsense.
It is not only real things (like this is me) but nonsense and imposters.
So it goes that a political activist contacted me last week to report receiving a threatening Facebook message from “City of Niagara Falls Mayor”.
Close examination of the page shows it to be a parody of Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino.
The real page is https://www.facebook.com/CityOfNiagaraFallsNY
The parody posts enough legitimate content to easily dupe the casual observer so when a well-meaning citizen activist receives a message it is easy to be faked out.
Don’t fall for it.
The ghost writer only added to past remarks made by the mayor from his weekly address to the public. The political climate here in Niagara Falls is toxic. The attempts to silence people that want to see good governance is sadly what keeps this city from growing.
