Festival of Nice

A year ago, we attempted to go to the Festival of Slice only the tickets were sold out.

Still, it was a chance for a different food experience. We had John Young’s Mambo wings for dinner as served at Taco Cantina. Young’s recipe preceded the Anchor Bar. The wings were available for only a short time.

This year was no different only we had the chance to buy tickets to the Tap and Craft event presale. Only my card choked on checkout. I messaged the site. Seth Piccirillo set aside 3 tickets for us and even went on his own Website and purchased a ticket to make sure it was either me or my card in error.

We showed up. There were lines everywhere most moved quickly. I went for a safe slice from the Craft with some hot peppers and pepperoni.

Beth and Ben hit Macies for chicken bacon ranch. We stood in line for 3 beverages, a bit steep at $24.

Then we had a nice chat with Serena O’Malley of Community Missions who was handing out flyers promoting the holiday hope donation drive. The mission needs toys, games, books, craft sets, cosmetic items, hair accessories, baby clothes, hygiene items, gift cards for teens, grocery store gift cards, hats and gloves, jackets, pants, winter coats, socks and underwear, blankets and pillows, bed linens, turkeys and hams and canned goods. For more information or to arrange a pickup email somalley@communitymissions.org.

O’Malley pointed us toward Leon’s for the dill pickle pizza with ranch. It was awesome and from a falls bistro we have never visited but now will.

We also saw excellent looking slices from 716 Supreme Subs, another place we have never tried.

It was a great time if a bit more pricey than expected.
