Last week, the Niagara Falls DPW spent 3 days cleaning up around the former Mount St. Mary’s Hospital on 6th Street.
Forestry trimmed the overgrown trees. A highlift loaded trash into dumptrucks. 14 loads were taken away from the long-neglected, abandoned property.
In fact, they cleaned up so much trash it appeared at first glance that there was nothing left for the Niagara Beautification Commission’s volunteers to clean up Sunday morning.
Appeared if the key word. A half-dozen volunteers with rakes and bags collected trash from the front of the property and the park along Ferry Avenue, filling about 10 bags as passing motorists and neighbors said thank you.
Casella’s will come by this week to take away the bags left stacked on the curb.
