Last week, Demetreus Nix was all about taking We All We Got to a depressed corner of Alexandria, La. where he planned to buy a shopping plaza.
That move will have to wait for 4 months. Nix, a Black activist from Niagara Falls will be serving a 6 month sentence in the Niagara County Jail.
He was sentenced Wednesday by Judge John Ottoviano on a single charge of criminal mischief for trashing two rental properties for which he had not been paid after doing work in 2022.
Initially, he was charged with 3 felonies, including burglary and grand larceny. The charges were reduced because he had keys, it wasn’t a burglary and he owned the tools he allegedly stole.
Nix, and his attorney Rodney Giove argued for an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal but the district attorney and judge refused unless he agreed to probation.
Probation foists a level of accountability on a man like Meme that rests like a yoke because it requires accountability and conformity and local presence.
Nix was taken from court and is now incarcerated. He was sentenced to 6 months which, with good behavior will be reduced to 4.
On the brightside, the School of Entrepreneur Thought on 19th St. continues to operate and perhaps 4 months will be long enough for him to quit smoking.
He posted on social media last week about a burglary at his yard on Seneca Street at Hyde Park, the former city corporation yard he has long dreamed on turning into The New Black Wall Street. Grow lights he claimed were worth $30,000 were taken.
At first, his temper started to come out and street justice was in the offing. Then he found out the VFW Post across the street had security footage and would not share it if he did not call the police.
It was a big step for Nix. Almost as big as pleading guilty to a single count or deciding he’d rather do time than agree to probation if he could not get an ACD.
