Short Take Politics
October surprise shows ex-President's crimes
The ex-President’s allegedly criminal attempts to overthrow the government were conducted by the candidate as a campaign operation, not the official acts of a sitting President. Hence, even in light of the Supreme Court ruling some men are better than others, he can’t use that as a defense for his actions. The ruling ordering the release came from a Republican appointed judge. https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/02/politics/jack-smith-donald-trump-filing/index.html
JV Vance’s damning nonanswer
It seems off the candidate for vice president still can’t bring himself to say “Trump lost.” It is like a game of truth or consequences and he’s choosing consequences which means the support of an increasingly marginalized MAGA minority over telling America he knows the truth. He’s no Mike Pence, that’s for sure. https://www.thebulwark.com/p/the-one-question-that-mattered-in-the-vp-debate-vance-walz?utm_source=substack&utm_campaign=post_embed&utm_medium=web
NPR’s fact check on Vance v. Walz
The Senator confabulates, stretching untruths with half truths and smooth-talking his way through problems. Governor Walz, alternatively, owns his misstatements and says sometimes he’s a knucklehead.
